Sampler Pack

The V2 Tile Bat System has 4 options for inserts. We now offer an Inserts Sampler Pack in order to give customers a chance to try out all the options before they invest in a large stockpile of inserts for their new system. It contains 1 each:

  • Glossy tile
  • Matte glazed tile
  • Unglazed bisque tile
  • Luxe Plastic Insert

Box Store Glossy Tiles

These are the least expensive and easiest to source locally. This is the surface we originally built our system around, offering potters a way to have as many surfaces to throw on as they want for almost no money. We do not sell these, and encourage you to go to your nearest big box home improvement store to get them for just 30 cents each!

There may be a bit of a learning curve, as the glossy surface requires a centering method that relies mostly on downward pressure, with the side hand fixed in position rather than pushing inward. Otherwise, the slick surface allows the clay to sort of wander around a bit.

Lowe's has now switched to the Daltile Core Classic Arctic White Glossy 6 in x 6 in Ceramic Subway Wall Tile as their in-store 6x6 White tile.

Glazed Matte Tiles

Oct 2 2026 *We have now had one customer who ordered these tiles directly from a store and the tiles did not fit. So please be aware this is possible. The tiles can be returned, but ordering another case might not solve the issue. The ones we ship have all been checked and are guaranteed to fit. We have not encountered non-fitting tiles ourselves.

These are another option that can be sourced locally at big box home improvement stores, but only in cases of 50, shipped to the store. We also offer them in 10-packs shipped right to your door. 

The main difference is that they are a bit more expensive, but they also prevent the sliding issue that we mentioned in the glossy tiles, so they have no learning curve. they are exactly like throwing on a Speedball bat, but without the flex.

Unglazed Bisque Tiles

These are different in that they are not glazed, so they have a porous surface. They must be moistened immediately before adding clay, and they will allow the pot to unstick itself in the drying process, which makes them the most forgiving of the tile surfaces.

These are available at local pottery supply stores and art stores, but importantly, they are slightly too large to fit the bat system as sold. You must fire them to Cone 02 to shrink to the right size.

We do sell these in 10-packs, already fired to shrink and inspected for fit. If you are buying for a group studio and want 150 or more and can do the firing, Use this link to get them from the same source we get them from.

Plastic Luxe Inserts

These are made from the very same material as the motherboard surround, so we are able to get a super close fit, and most importantly, the surface is totally flush. Where the tiles sit slightly taller than the motherboard, the luxe are almost invisible feeling.

Because there is a lot of expensive material and labor that goes into these, they are the most expensive, but the experience is elevated accordingly. They are solid ABS Plastic so they will last forever, and they have a slight about of flex to them allowing them to pop off the dried clay.

These are highly recommended for potters who love to finish the bottom with ribs, and those more sensitive to tactile sensations. These are available at some of our dealers, and we ship them out in packs of 6.
