Unglazed bisque tiles offer a "best of both worlds" experience for throwing. They combine the durability and stability of ceramic with the advantages or porous surfaces. Unlike the glazed tiles, you must add water to the bisque tile to help the clay adhere.

  • No warping
  • No swelling
  • No flexing
  • Extremely durable, will not deteriorate over time
  • No wiring needed, the pot releases when dry enough to flip
  • Grippy surface holds the clay firmly in place

These are commonly available at pottery supply stores, but the ones you source locally might not fit the system. We actually fire the tiles we sell in order to shrink them to fit our system. Each tile is individually inspected for fit, warping, and damage in the packing process, so this is the easiest way to get the experience of throwing on bisque with zero hassle, shipped right to your door.

We pack the tiles by shrink-filming them into a bundle, putting the bundle into an interior box surrounded by 1" thick XPS rigid foam, and then a 200 lb test outer box to protect them on their journey.  We have found this to be a very good method for shipping and have had very little breakage since developing this packaging. In the rare case that tiles break, we will refund a pro-rated 5.00 per broken tile, but if more than 3 break, we will simply send a new pack at our own expense.

Inspected for perfect fit

To get these tiles to fit your V2 bat system, we fire the tiles. As clay becomes more vitreous from firing, it shrinks. We used this fact to find the correct firing temperature, and fire all of the tiles to shrink in order to fit the system. As we unload the kiln, we inpect each individual tile to ensure that it will fit your bat system perfectly.

Packaged To Survive The Journey

Each 10-pack of tiles is shrink wrapped into a bundle to prevent collision, then double-boxed with a full inch of XPS styrofoam surrounding all sides, to protect corners and edges from impacts during shipment. The quantity of 10 is what we have found to be the best balance between survivability and efficiency. We have been shipping tiles for years, and have the system fully worked out.
