This is the preview of our newly redesigned Cup Sieve. We will launch the product on Saturday, April 18, at 1:00 PM Eastern time. At that time, the inventory will be added to the site.
These smaller siblings to our poular and revolutionary Cup Sieve, were created by popular demand. Many of our customers use commercial glazes, and underglazes, and were seeking a neat, clean, and compact way to refine, reconstitute, or remove chunks from their glazes without needing extra containers. These miniature sieves are designed to securely lock into all of the popular commercial glaze containers. These have been specifically around Amaco, Mayo, Coyote, Speedball and Ritual glaze containers, and work great! They also fit perfectly in a classic 16 ounce plastic disposable cup so that option is open as well.

What Mesh Size is the right one?
Mesh size indicates the number of wires per linear inch in the screen—the higher the number, the finer the mesh. A finer mesh requires more effort to push material through but captures smaller particles. Ceramicists often select their preferred mesh size based on their specific needs. Generally, 60 Mesh suits general glaze and underglaze reconstitution, 80 Mesh is ideal for filtering out oolites and small crystals while breaking up colorants, and 100 Mesh provides the smoothest texture by breaking down the finest colorant particles, though it may also filter out some glaze, underglaze, or slip components.

Features
Clip-on Spatula
We include with each Sieve a color-coordinated clip-on spatula. Use this handy little tool to push the glaze or slip through the screen. It is designed to work well with the screen size, and clips onto the sieve so it doesn't get lost.
Features
Easy to Read
The mesh size is indelibly printed right into the rim in bold lettering, making sure you will never question which mesh size you are using. The lettering is structurally integrated so it can never fade or wash off.
Features
Integrated Venting and Hanging Hole
When you sieve a glaze, often a seal forms which prevents the glaze from flowing smoothly through the screen. We solved that with an impressed venting channel. You will no longer need to "burp" the glazes, which will cut down on the mess and hassle. Also, we tied that right into our hanging hole.
Features
Stair-step Exterior
These steps have been measured to fit the openings of popular commercial glaze containers. They lock into the top of the jar and securely rest on the rim. This greatly reduces the hassle you might have experienced with other brands, and makes sieving your glazes a pleasant experience.
What's the Difference Between Jar Sieves and Cup Sieves?
-
Jar Sieves
We designed these specifically to lock into most commercial glaze and underglaze containers. We started by collecting as many glaze containers as we could find, and based the stair-step design on those openings.
Jar sieves are super compact, fit a 16 oz. solo cup as the largest size, and include a handy clip-on spatula for pushing the material through the screen.
-
Cup Sieves
Cup SievesThese were designed to maximize throughput for a smaller sieve. We made the screen as wide as it could be while still fitting the popular 8oz. cup used in glaze testing. While versatile for all sorts of users, these are right at home in university glaze labs, group studios and classrooms. They work great for large deli containers, 16oz. solo cups, and glaze sprayers. We do make a spatula, available separately.
